HAMILTON, Ohio - CuisineWire -- On the evening of November 3, the Hamilton County Board of Elections certified the votes declaring former Ohio Legislative Black Caucus President and State Representative, Alicia Reece, as the Democratic winner for Hamilton County Commissioner over well-financed Republican challenger, Andy Black, and Independent candidate, Herman J. Najoli. Ms. Reece received 51% of the vote out of a total 405,983 votes cast. A marketing consultant with over 20 years of political experience, Ms. Reece has now won eight Ohio elections and served as Cincinnati's Vice Mayor and Ohio State Representative. She is also the only African American and woman who has served on the City, State, and County levels in Hamilton County.
"This race was like no other with a global pandemic and economic downturn. I am so thankful to God and all the voters in Hamilton County," states Ms. Reece, Hamilton County Commissioner Elect.

It was a long road to victory this year for Ms. Reece. During the primary race for Hamilton County Commissioner, Ms. Reece had to overcome being out spent by her opponent, who started with $500,000 carried over from the Governor's race, she was not endorsed by the local Democratic Party, and she had an additional African American opponent, all during the beginning of the global pandemic. As a result, Ms. Reece leveraged all of her creative campaign efforts to educate, motivate, and activate voters in the Ohio primary election, which proved successful in winning the primary. For the general election, Ms. Reece faced a Republican who spent over $1 million dollars in an attempt to defeat her as well as challenged her at every level with combative remarks and materials. In the end, Ms. Reece prevailed with innovative and creative campaign tactics that empowered voters to turn out in record numbers for early voting and on Election Day.
Next, Ms. Reece will prepare to take office in January 2021.
