MWINGI is a women-led, tech-enabled enterprise transforming rural retail in Kenya by improving last-mile access to essential goods and creating income and ownership opportunities for women.
NAIROBI, Kenya - CuisineWire -- MWINGI Kenya Ltd, a Nairobi-based retail company focused on improving access to food and essential products in underserved rural communities, today announced that it generated USD 9.6 million in revenues in fiscal year 2025.
Founded in 2019, the company currently owns and operates 190 franchise shops in remote, rural areas across Kenya and, in addition, runs a wholesale business serving approximately 2,800 B2B customers, mainly dukas en route to the MWINGI franchise shops. Other than conventional e-commerce retailers, MWINGI has a physical presence through its "brick and mortar" shops in the communities it operates in and therefore sells directly to its B2C customers.

MWINGI shops are operated by mainly female franchisees from rural areas, thoroughly trained and monitored by MWINGI.
All main processes of MWINGI are tech-enabled by a proprietary IT solution, fit to run in off-grid communities with unreliable internet/mobile networks.
By expanding reliable access to affordable food and daily consumer goods through both its franchise and wholesale channels, MWINGI improves food security as well as household income generation and community-level economic resilience. MWINGI's essential social and economic impact has been approved by the renowned impact expert, 40Decibel.
On the backdrop of its successful business model and economic resilience, MWINGI plans to invest heavily in Kenya and grow to 2,000 franchise shops by 2030.
