Family-run Windsor, Nova Scotia bakery recognised by industry juries and Canadian consumers
WINDSOR, Nova Scotia - CuisineWire -- Sable Shortbread, the family-owned bakery known for its small-batch, all-natural shortbread, received multiple international and national honours during 2025 and the start of 2026, marking a meaningful milestone as the business enters its twelfth year.
In 2025, the UK-based Prestige Awards named Sable Shortbread Bakery of the Year — Canada, following nominations from customers, industry contacts, and magazine subscribers. The bakery was also recognised by the Global Excellence Awards 2025 as Best Natural Cookie Company — Nova Scotia, placing Sable Shortbread among Canada's leading natural cookie makers.
Most recently, Sable Shortbread was named Bakery Category Winner in the 2026 Canadian Choice Awards, a national, consumer-driven program recognising businesses for service, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Founder Lorraine Pike says the recognition comes after several challenging years.
"The past few years have tested us in ways we never expected," she said. "The pandemic, ongoing supply and staffing challenges, and an unplanned move from Kentville to our new shop in Windsor took an enormous amount of teamwork and resilience. Being recognised internationally — but especially by our customers — is particularly meaningful."
Owner and CEO Duncan Pike says the awards reflect a much longer tradition.
"Our family has been baking for generations," he said. "Sable Shortbread is part of a story that began long before our storefronts — from the bakers in our family who shaped our traditions, to the work we're doing today. Receiving these awards reinforces our commitment to the craft and the community we serve."
Founded in Vancouver in 2014 and now relocated to Eastern Canada, where the family's roots run deep, Sable Shortbread is known for its extensive flavour library, premium ingredients, and its Real Canadian Shortbread™ Every recipe is developed in-house using organic ingredients and Canadian butter, with more than 150 flavours offered across shortbread, seasonal collections, and specialty products.
