"I was so surprised to get the call. It's wonderful to be remembered for the work I did to support the Philadelphia community. And it's an honor to be listed alongside other Philly girls in entertainment such as Nancy Meyers, Tina Fey, and Quinta Brunson." –Sharon Pinkenson

The Girl Scouts of Greater Philadelphia were also nominated for being the spark in 1933 that began what we know today as Girl Scout Cookie Season. The author–an entrepreneur–supports girls developing business skills. The Girl Scouts of Greater Philadelphia received an Honorable Mention in Philly Girls because the sale of more than 200 million boxes each year can be traced back to a group of Philadelphia Girl Scouts and their volunteer parents.

"For those who do not know, Philadelphia was the birthplace of America. It was the heart of the American Revolution. I think it's time for another revolution and I'm hoping girls globally will read this book and be motivated to do something—no matter how small—to make our world a better place. And if you know, you know: There's just something about a Philly girl… let's call it "Philly-tude." –Ranee Alison, Author
